Fat Flush Plan Diet - How I Did What I Did

This is my success story about the Fat Flush Diet Plan.  It really is the easiest diet I have ever been on. Since I finished the 2 week, Phase 1 of the diet, back in June 2011, I have added back lowfat/ff dairy & some low carb bread/tortillas that I get from Walmart - Healthy Life Whole Wheat Bread, 35 cals, 5 net carbs and La Banderita Soft Taco Wheat Tortillas, 81 cals, 5 net carbs. Both taste good. I have also been having a couple of drinks a week. Haven't gained any of the weight back. I will keep eating like this from now on, it is too easy not to!  ** Please remember, this is my diet story.  Before following any diet please seek the advice of YOUR doctor or dietitian.

To see some of posts for the meals/dishes that I eat that are Fat Flush Plan Diet 'friendly' ~ just type in Fat Flush Plan in the 'Search This Blog' box  ~ OR ~  click on the tag 'Fat Flush Plan' under 'Labels', at the bottom of the blog.

The Book:

  • The Fat Flush Plan
    Ann Louise Gittleman
The book came out in early 2000. A few different ways to find out about the Fat Flush Plan ~ To read more about the diet, get the book from your local library.  ~ Also, Amazon.com sells cheap, used copies. ~ You can Google it to see what people say about the diet. That's what I did & after sifting through the posts I decided to give it try.  Gittleman also has a cookbook (I bought that) & a few other books (one on men's health, bought that, too)

    • The Fat Flush Plan Cookbook modifies her original diet a bit. It's a little less strict, but the way I changed the original diet to fit the way I eat, it came out around the same.

    •  She has a page on Facebook. I am a fan & get cool updates from her. They also have Fat Flush Fan pages, too.

    •  I followed the diet sorta closely. I just took regular vitamins & used bottled lemon juice. I did get the Black Current Seed Oil capsules from Whole Foods. I already had flax oil & regular steviaTrader Joes has pretty cheap Ground Flax Meal & Unsweetened Cranberry Juice.

    •  I like the Vanilla Whey Powder, Walmart has the cheapest I've found.

    •  I didn't really follow the recipes, just cooked with/ate the basic foods that are allowed for the different phases of the diet.

    • For PHASE 1 ~ I ate 1 or 2 eggs a day (sometimes as breakfast & sometimes as a snack), 1 or 2 shakes a day (sometimes as breakfast & sometimes as a snack - I usually made mine w/V8 VFusion Juice & skipped one of the fruit servings), unlimited veggies from the list, 4 oz of meat/fish with lunch & dinner. I drank all the liquids & had tea in the morning.  I used Pam for cooking, I Can't Believe It's Not Butter Spray 'butter' to top the veggies, Braggs Amino Acids (basically a low sodium soy sauce) for flavor & ground dulce (a type of seaweed) instead of salt.  Sometimes I would blend the flax oil, 3 olives, a hard boil egg, lemon juice, water & cayenne pepper to make a spicy salad dressing.  I bought regular meat/fish (not organic) I did weigh the meat/fish to get 4 oz servings, but I didn't measure out the veg. I just made huge salads, or sides of veg, from the approved list of veggies.

    • It really is the easiest diet and I was never hungry, especially since I modified it to work for me. I assume if I had followed it to the letter I might have lost a lot more. I was thrilled with 8 pounds in 10 days.

    • If you can't get a hold of the book to read, here are some links to give you basic info about what the diet is about. The Livestrong site has a list of the foods allowed.

    1. Hi Jeanne,
That's how I did it too. I like to see what 'real' people have to say about the subject, not just the people hyping the product/service. I still go back to the FF '2-week' portion from time-to-time. :) Thanks for stopping by & commenting ~ Cheers!

  3. I was wondering if you had any information on foods that maybe used to replace eggs on the diet? I have done "The Flush" a few times in the past, but have since learned that I am actually allergic to eggs. I have the book, but was not able to find any info there or online. Any information would be appreciated! Thanks!

    1. Hi Jaime!

I also looked through both my original FFP book & the FFP cookbook & didn't see anything either. Have you tried submitting a question to Ann Louise Gittleman's website, FatFlush.com? I searched the FAQ & saw a bit of info on vegetarians. It looks like they are good at responding to questions. Check it out ((look under the FAQ comments for ~ Special Health/Lifestyle Concerns)) ~ http://www.fatflush.com/faq

It appears that her newer 2009 book ~ Fat Flush for Life ~ has more dietary subs that might address your egg issue. Maybe you can get a copy to read from your library?

She also has a Facebook page, maybe you could try getting some guidance from there? https://www.facebook.com/annlouisegittleman

Hope you can get the info you need from one of her sites. Please let me know what you find out, since maybe others who read this post might have similar concerns.

Thanks for stopping by ~ Cheers!

  4. Hi there! I'm planning on starting the FF on Monday. I'm not thrilled with the dinner choices for the first two weeks (not a fish fan). Any suggestions on what to eat in place of the fish?
