{ Rules for Sharing My Recipes/Photos }

I've been finding my work/recipes/photos on other peoples websites without any linkbacks or any mention of my blog being where they got the recipe that they are sharing.  When they do that, it appears like they are the creator of the recipe and not me... That makes me very unhappy!  :(

~ All my writing/photos are copyright protected under the law.
~ Plagiarism is against the law.
~ Everybody play nice, otherwise I'll start using my Mommy Voice!

Thanks to all of the blogs who have played nice & linked back to my blog when they share one of my recipes.  I appreciate it!

If I become aware of anyone using my recipes and/or photos without giving the proper credit,  I will get VERY CRANKY!!  That is STEALING!!!  It is NOT NICE!!  I will report it to the proper authorities.

RULES FOR USING MY RECIPES & PHOTOS

It's OK to use one of my photos provided the watermark remains on the photo AND a linkback AND proper crediting is given.

You are only allowed to use them ~ IF ~ you are not using them for your own financial gain.
You are ~ NOT GIVEN PERMISSION ~ to copy my recipes directly onto your site. If you want to share my original recipes, it must be by linking back to my site.  If you still feel the need to share my original printed recipe on your site, please email me for my permission BEFORE adding to your site and we will go over the above credits needed for the reprint.

Email me at ~ watchingwhatieat@yahoo.com

Of course, you are free to share your ADAPTED recipe versions ~ where you have modified one of my recipes ~ on your site. Then stating that your recipe is ADAPTED from one of my recipes/posts & then linking back to my original post/recipe. Same goes for an 'Inspired by' recipe. *(see below)

Thank you for respecting my hard work & for showing where you found the photo/recipe you are sharing on your site.

Please play fair & follow the Foodie Blogger Code of Ethics ~ Always show where you got your cooking inspiration from!

If you slightly change a recipe that you decide to share on your blog, let everyone know it is ~ ADAPTED from anothers recipe & then provide the linkback to the original place you found the recipe.

If you really change-up a recipe & it only slightly resembles the original recipe you are making/sharing on your blog, then show it as INSPIRED BY* & then provide the linkback to the original place you found the recipe.

We all love to cook and often take inspiration from the kitchens of others, so let's all give a shout-out to the cooks/blogs who make us want to create in our own kitchens!  That way we all benefit.

  1. Copyright law does not protect recipes that are mere listings of ingredients. Nor does it protect other mere listings of ingredients such as those found in formulas, compounds, or prescriptions. Copyright protection may, however, extend to substantial literary expression—a description, explanation, or illustration, for example—that accompanies a recipe or formula or to a combination of recipes, as in a cookbook.

    1. Thanks for sharing even more details of how copyright law works.

I am finding my recipes COPIED VERBATIM onto other peoples websites. Not a word missing, my every phrase and comment used. Everything exactly the same (verbatim), sometimes using my photographs ~ with not a mention to be found as to the source of the information they are posting. To all appearances, by neglecting to show the original written source of the recipe, they are implying they are the original creators of the recipe. I am contacting those sites to rectify the situation as I become aware of them.

  2. Hello Vicki!
Love your site/blog very inspiring...I am very interested in the name of the muffins pictured at the top of your home page. My husband loves lemons and if you could share the name of them I would love to find the recipe on your site. I have searched lemon and was unsuccessful :( I did however find other lemon recipes that I will surprise my husband with. Thank you in advance for sharing, love your enthusiasm! Smiles, Thelecia
I am not sure how to fill in the "comment as" portion as I have never done this before, everthing I have tried is unsuccessful so I hope this works.

    1. Hi Thelecia!

I'm so flattered that you liked my photo enough to want to make it, that was one of my early posts in Feb 2012. The photo is of ~ Meyer Lemon Almond Muffins. I linked to the site that I got the recipe from, but when I went to check it just now, the recipe link is no long available. :( I searched for it, but to no avail. I have supplied new links to other recipes that look similar & sound good. The LA Times & gastronomy pictures look similar to mine and the low fat one looks good too. I have a search box on the right side of the blog, just type in lemon or Meyer lemon or muffins for the posts that have that ingredient.

One of my favorite lemon recipes is the French Yogurt Cake with Sugar Crunch Topping, the lemon flavor & crunchy topping are really nice. I love all things lemon, so there are a lot of recipes to choose from. Some I like more than others, and will say so in the post.

Thank you so much for all the nice comments ~ you've made my night!! Hope you find something that your hubby likes. :) Thanks so much for stopping by and commenting ~ Cheers!
